Salary: R9 531,55 per month (basic salary excluding benefits)
Reporting To: Team Leader
Job Overview
As a General Worker, you will be responsible for a variety of cleaning and refuse bin delivery tasks. Your daily duties will include street cleaning, sweeping, lane flushing, carcass removal, and bin deliveries. You’ll play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of our streets.
Key Responsibilities
- Street Cleaning and Sweeping: Maintain clean and tidy streets by sweeping and removing litter.
- Bin Cleaning: Ensure all refuse bins are thoroughly cleaned.
- Protective Clothing: Wear protective clothing at all times for safety.
- Bag Distribution: Draw the correct number of bags from the store and distribute them to consumers.
- Refuse Collection: Collect refuse bags, place them on trolleys, and stack them properly.
- Spillage Management: Clear all spillages promptly when bag breakage occurs.
- Bin Delivery: Collect new or replacement bins from central stores, load them onto delivery trucks, and offload them at designated locations.
- Customer Interaction: Ensure customers sign for bin deliveries and receive a copy of the delivery receipt.
- Public Liaison: Interact with the public, service users, and officials from other departments to promptly resolve complaints and queries.
- Safety Reporting: Report all safety incidents, equipment issues, and injuries to the team leader.
- Task Completion: Ensure daily tasks are completed efficiently.
- Additional Duties: Perform any other tasks as delegated by the supervisor.
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: Grade 10.
- Experience: At least 12 months of cleaning or general work experience.
- Record: No criminal record.
- Fitness: Must be physically and mentally fit.
- Residency: Must be a South African residing within the City of Johannesburg.
Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviors:
- Procedural Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant company procedures.
- Legislation Understanding: Understanding of relevant legislation.
- Tools and Equipment: Knowledge of relevant tools, equipment, and procedures.
- Instruction Compliance: Ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Task Management: Ability to prioritize and execute tasks as assigned.
- Teamwork: Capability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment.
